Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) are documents required by OSHA’s* Hazard Communication Standard that provides information about a chemical, such as the name, manufacturer, ingredients, physical/chemical properties, potential fire/ explosion/health hazard data, reactivity data, safe handling/usage precautions, and control measures. MSDS provide sufficient information to enable safe use, storage, handling, and emergency procedures related to potential hazards of the chemical.

*Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA): the main U.S. federal agency charged with enforcement of safety and health legislation.

There is no regulatory requirement to provide MSDS to consumers. However, since Segway believes in giving consumers as much information as possible in order to make informed decisions, we are providing MSDS for any applicable products here. For more detailed information on MSDS and their use in an occupational environment, visit the following OSHA webpage: http://www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom/index.html

REACH COMPLIANCE

The European Union’s (EU) REACH directive (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) places responsibility on industry to manage the risks that chemicals may pose to human health and the environment. REACH applies not only to chemicals used in industrial processes, but also to chemicals used in day-to-day life, such as cleaning products, paints, clothes, furniture, and electrical appliances.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has identified a list of chemicals it considers to be Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).

REACH contains three basic sections that may be applicable to products sold on the European market:

Registration of products with the ECHA is required for products that, when used as designed, intentionally release SVHCs. Segway’s products do not perform in this manner and are not subject to registration with the ECHA.

Notification to the ECHA is required when the quantity of any SVHC contained within a product shipped into the EU exceeds 1 metric ton per year and the SVHC accounts for 0.1% or more of the total product weight. Segway products do not contain SVHCs in sufficient volume to require notification to the ECHA.

Communication to consumers is required should any product imported into the EU contain any SVHC having a quantity greater than 0.1% weight by weight of the product. Segway has investigated the components that make up our products and will communicate the presence of any SVHC and any updated information via this webpage.

Segway will strive to assure that any SVHC referred to in the REACH directive will be managed in accordance with the requirements provided therein relative to Segway products. However, Segway makes no claim that current or future SVHCs used by its suppliers of components or packaging are fully compliant with REACH and Segway makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, regarding the REACH directive information.

For a complete and current list of SVHCs, and for additional information regarding REACH, please go to the following website: https://echa.europa.eu/web/guest/candidate-list-table
